Round 13… The kindest of the bye rounds with only two teams taking the week off led to some massive scores! Fair to say there will be a few coaches strutting around like a peacock after a uuuuuge weekend.
Read on for you weekly fix of corrosive footy chat!
13 down, 11 to go… Must be time for The Weekend That Was!
Sydney vs St Kilda
Studs
Marshall (129) –
Crouch (123) – Ball magnet. And potentially under-priced at around $820K having already had his bye!
Nas (118) – Nas is fast becoming the Saints go to distributor off half-back and it is reflecting in his scoring! He was uuuuuge, particularly when Sinclair went into the midfield in the second half. Four tons in his past six matches and already had his bye… Will be tempting for many!
Sinclair (107) – Slow start but my word didn’t he make up for it! Sincs was predominantly a midfielder on Thursday night with his crafty use and clean hands on show for all to see. Imagine if he marked and tackled a bit more!
Sheldrick (79) – A lesser name but deserves a mention for a solid 79! Not sure how long he lasts with the impending return of Parker, however.
Duds
Buddy (33) – Anything above 50 and you would’ve landed in the studs, Lance… Anyways, congrats on 350 you were pivotal for St Kilda!
Western Bulldogs vs Port
Studs
Macrae (129) – Fwaaa Macca. Bevo clearly haaaates having Jack on the ball but on Friday night, it didn’t matter. 26 touches, 10 marks, 6 tackles and a goal in a brilliant all-round game for the newly credited fantasy forward!
Butters (121) – The man is a machine, plain and simple. He just wills himself to win the hard ball and is always punching well about his weight division at stoppages and marking contests alike… Maestro!
Bont (116) – Standard Bont nowadays! Fun fact: Bont does not have a score below 90 this season… Talk about consistency!
Daniel (110) – Speaking of consistency, the midget attack dog’s last seven weeks have been nothing short of phenomenal! Could be a uuuuuge POD post-bye – currently owned by <4% of the comp!
Duds
English (76) – Was a literal 2m ghost for the first quarter and a half… Getting beaten up by Lycett not a great way to start the loooooong weekend for Timmeh!
Weightman (69) – Actually a decent score but gets a mention in the duds for putting forward his best nom for an Oscar… Tom Hanks and associates would be proud.
Sinn (24) –
Jones (21) – 0 disposals?! Donuts for a whole game?! Congrats Arty, may we all sleep better at night for witnessing this wizardry.
Hawthorn vs Brisbane Lions
Studs
Dunks (145) – As good as it gets for a man on a losing side. Dunks has always been an elite all-round scorer and only needed 28 touches to hit a 145 – remarkable!
Sic (130) – Get this. In his last three games, Sicily averages 13 marks. 13! Not sure why teams just allow him to roam around like a bad smell with no one within a country mile of him… He’ll set you back well over $900K so you’d have to sell the farm to make it happen! It may also be a case of ta-da Sic after a f*cked tackle on McCluggage (sarcasm).
Neale (124) – One of about three blokes from Brisbane who weren’t still on holidays… Racked up 30 disposals and a very impressive 14 marks! More of the same around the ground pls Lachie.
Moore (106) – The role still sucks eggs but Dyl is finding a way every third or fourth week… 25 touches and 2 goals including the Lion killing sealer.
Duds
Rich (52) – Bahaha oh Richy that was shocking… Turning circle slower than the titanic would be an insult to the titanic!
Crom vs Worst Coast
Studs
Tex (166) – T.Walker: 10.2 (62) def Worst Coast: 8.4 (52). Lol @ any non-owners!
Laird (124) – Desk Pig doing Desk Pig things. Bounced back in a big way from an uncharacteristic 81 vs the Coast of the Gold variety last week.
Duds
Sheed (52) – Riddle me this… Sheed’s last four games read: 139, 64, 138 and 52. In a month of footy he hasn’t registered a score between 65 and 138! Incredible to think he actually salvaged this score a bit late in Q4.
Hunt (37) – For those who still own this mega spud, probably all it deserved.
Michalaney (27) – In Maxxy’s defence, Worst Coast had about six inside 50’s all game… Genuine Gungahlin numbers!
Long (11) –
Freo vs Richmond
Studs
Taranto (129) – Closest thing to a perma C since the days of D.Swan / T.Rockliff. High praise, but this guy is literally shitting fantasy tons at the moment!
Nank (129) –
Bolton (124) – 14 touches and a goal alone in Q4! The man was electric when the whips were cracking. 3 votes S.Bolton I’d say.
Jackson (119) – LJ tonning up as the solo ruck man… Shock me! Darcy is listed as 1-2 weeks away so I’d be wary investing in him.
Johnson (93) – A popular inflated priced rookie option heading into R13 given he had just come off the bye and Johnson did not disappoint! Plenty of CBA’s which bodes well for bulk $$$$$$ over the coming month.
Duds
Baker (57) – Yes congrats on the 100 games… However, since about R5 Bakes has shat the bed from a pure fantasy lens having not tonned up at all in the past eight weeks – hopefully he isn’t sitting in your draft team!
Young (10) – Lets just say… Thank f*ck this wasn’t Young of the Hayden variety!
Norf vs BWS
Studs
Ziebell (108) – “I’m too heavy on R15 premo’s so Ziebell has to go” they said… Needless to say, Ziebs wasn’t copping that slander posting 30 touches and only the 4 marks! Glass half full in me says awesome to see him hit a ton with only +12 in marks.
Briggs (101) – Amazing. From 3rd in line at the Giants to posting a hat-trick of tons as the #1 man! I tip my hat to those who jumped on.
Warlord (97) – Man this kid is a beast. So good to see draftees having an impact in their first seasons. If he had played the full season, every chance he gives Sheez/Ashcroft/Mitchito Owens a run for rising star! He’ll probably still finish top 5!
Duds
Green (73) –
Fahey (50) – Josh Fahedy.
Bergman (10) – Not even the best player in his family.
Carltank vs Essendon
Studs
Alpha Martin (114) – Flying under the radar since he entered the league but I’m not having it! He’s a gun and now has four tons in as many weeks… He’ll now set you back around $800K but could be a huge smoky post-bye!
Duds
Cripps (45) –
Collingwood vs Melbourne
Studs
Viney (135) – Massive. Top score of the season by quite some margin in arguably the Dees biggest fixture on the calendar! Draft owners, take a bow.
Crisp (131) – Colossal. Those who watched the game would have recognised just how good Crispy was. 200+ consecutive games streak continues for the Pies gun!
Mitchell (121) – Is the Pig of old back?! 3 round average of 119 would suggest so! In a highly contested and pressurised games, Titch thrived with 30 disposals, 11 contested possessions and 10 tackles.
Duds
McVee (33) – Hard to justify keeping him around because he’s a green dot when he is deadweight at this point. Bleeding $$$$ only adding insult to injury!
McIness (24) – Wow, with a name like Reef you’d want to be doing better than this.
The Juggernaut Review
2004.
Had this been a weekend with six teams on holiday, I’d be saying unbelievable! However, with just the Cats and Suns off, coaches were lapping up teams of 22 and dropping off 4 turds in the process.
2/2 on the league match ups front which is always nice!
Do you believe in miracles? If so, read on!
Big shoutout to Binny Hewson and his bludgers for getting their first win of the season in the CC league against Patty’s all conquering “Aidens Boner”. With F4-F6 consisting of Van Rooyen, Angwin (Mr Bradycardic himself) and Pheonix Spicer many were calling for the Bludgers to go into voluntary administration. Fair to say this victory will shake up the wooden spoon markets, with “Lukewarm Beveridge” shooting in to $1.01 overnight. How good are the byes?!
Speaking of byes, while we only have another fortnight to deal with, six teams will be taking their week off each weekend respectively. The sensible play remains getting in those guys who have come off their bye who you see as good upgrade targets, cheeky mid-pricers or potentially even rookies coming through. Every green dot counts and I think the next fortnight will separate the big dawgs from the pack!
So how did we all go in round 13? Flex your score in the comments below!
Best of luck over the coming bye weeks legends!
