Buy, Hold, Fold: Round 9

Who’s on the chopping block heading into round 9? Get your trade tips and advice for the week with with Buy, Hold, Fold!

Greg Clark ($250K MID, WCE) – DNP

After a week out with Flurona, Clark is still essential this week with a breakeven of -31! Huge cash generation on the way and job security should not be an issue given the Weagles are calling on anyone with two legs and a pulse to pull on the jersey.

Christian Petracca ($855K MID, MELB) – 118

Trac has returned to form in the past two weeks, averaging 115. Has some piss easy matchups coming with Traffic Cones and Norf in the next two weeks… Also has that favourable R14 bye and with a breakeven of 105, we mightn’t get him much cheaper than this!

Jack Carroll ($284K MID, CARL) – 55

Another rook who has impressed at Carlton. If you’ve already got G.Clark, Carroll is your next best downgrade option this week!

In the Mix: Dayne Zorko, Mitch Duncan, Darcy Cameron.

Josh Dunkley ($937K MID/FWD, WB) – 62

Put simply, the man got Bevo’d! After dominating for 7 weeks in a perma mid position, coach Luke Beveridge thought he’d d*ck around with the magnets… No surprises they went on to lose! Is still a top 3 forward so definite hold.

Max Gawn ($944k RUCK, MELB) – 67

Remember when people did Gawn –> Preuss about 5 weeks ago to ‘free up cash’… Don’t fall into that trap again or Big Max will make you pay. He did hurt his knee on the weekend but scans have cleared him of any major damage… He is expected to get up for the trip West and has a mouth-watering matchup against Strnadica/Jamieson/Dicko/Williams/WAFL Colts call up.

Isaac Heeney ($750k FWD, SYD) – 67

Heen has been frustrating for owners of late, with two of his last three scores in the 60’s… He did kick 0.3 on the weekend so that 67 could have easily been an 85+. Still averages 96 so will be thereabouts in the top 6 forward conversation.

In the Mix: Ollie Wines, Tim Taranto, Nick Daicos.

Marcus Windhager ($301K MID/FWD, STK) – 11

Started as the medi-sub and in crappy circumstances for owners, came on in Q4 which meant Windy was unable to hit his breakeven… With a round 9 breakeven of 47 and job security concerns, there’s no harm in moving him on!

Tom Mitchell ($803K MID, HAW) – 51

Man this really hurts the soul… but the pig is a shadow of his former self! He seems to be squeezed out of that midfield more by the week as the next generation takes greater responsibility in the engine room.

Corey Durdin ($332K FWD, CARL) – 44

Another whose average and breakeven are quickly approaching… Has a round 9 breakeven of 38 and good job security so you could do worse than hold but I wouldn’t be expecting much more than 40’s or 50’s from the livewire small forward.

In the Mix: Connor McDonald, Zac Spudders, Matt Rowell, JHF.
